Message I wanted to raise the shift point, not lower it. With the O/D enguaged I'd end up at ~1500 rpm or less in 4th while driving around on local neighborhood roads. Now I'm at around 2000 rpm in 3rd in the same conditions. I don't use 4th, O/D, unless I'm going over 45 mph for extended durations, like driving down the highway in light traffic. My morning commute consists of about 5 miles on the highway, but even that is stop and go so I usualy keep the O/D off now, and my milage seems to have gone up.

:You simply let off the gas when you reach the desired RPM and the car will simply shift itself...
:I read my Maxima's owners manual and its shift points are at the 2000rpm range for optimal fuel milage...
:Acceleration Shift Points are at 15mph (1>2), 25 (2>3), 35 (3>4), 40 (4>5).
:Cruising Shifts Points are 13, 23, 33, 35 I think... something crazy like that..
:I've been trying to shift before 2300-2500 if I can (sometimes you just can't)... or I'll try and skip shift (1st to 3rd to 5th or 1st to 2nd to 4th to 5th, etc).
:Been doing pretty good... I'm at like 415 miles to the tank, and the light just came on...
